Cobblers youth team give experience to seven of the under 16 players
Northampton Town's youth team took the opportunity to blood seven under 16 players as they took on Brackley Town's under 18s at Moulton College on Thursday night in the quarter final of the Northamptonshire FA's Dave Joyce Cup.Brackley won 3-2, with the Cobblers goals coming from Lewis Irwin and Ryan Hughes.
"We took the opportunity to blood a number of next season's intake of scholars," said Professional Phase Development Coach Mark Lyons.
"The lads equipped themselves well against some older and physically stronger players.
"I felt this was good performance and the new intake will have learnt a lot about what is required ahead of next season."
