Danny East returned at right-back for the visit of Bradford after recovering from a shoulder Injury.

After a quiet opening ten minutes on a misty night at Sixfields, Kelvin Langmead put in a good block to maintain parity after Nahki Wells nipped into rob Lee Nicholls who appeared to have the ball in his grasp.

With the Bantams enjoying a spell of pressure Danny East was forced into making a goal-line clearance from James Hanson in a goalmouth scramble.

Alex Nicholls then dragged a shot just wide following a neat lay-off from Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Bradford took the lead on 53 minutes, Nahki Wells racing through on to a long ball from his goalkeeper to score.

Lee Nicholls parried a Craig Forsyth shot from distance, James Hanson firing the rebound over. Langmead made a good block to deny goalscorer Wells as Bradford looked to double their lead.

The Cobblers made a change on 69 minutes, Louis Moult replacing Clive  Platt. Jon McLaughlan tipped over a header from Moult as Aidy Boothroyd’s side looked to get up a head of steam.

There was to be no Cobblers equaliser though as Bradford saw the game out to claim the three points.
